Young people’s music culture

By Desiree Schreibhuber (1994) / BORG Krems, Austria

We all listen to music. Some more, others less. It is a language which is understood by everybody. No one have to learn what music is and what it means. You do not need a translator who explains which kind of emotion a song wears.

There is no doubt that music connects the different peoples all around the world. This is due to the fact that we all can listen to the same music and trough the media we all know the same musicians.

Each culture and each generation has developed its own music. It imparts them identity. The music genre has changed in the last years. By comparison to the music our grandparents listened to, our music is much more varied and free. Nowadays music is made to satisfy everyone’s gusto. That is the reason why there are so many genres like rock, metal, jazz, techno, classic, folksy and much more.

In conclusion, I would say that music is an important part of our life. It expresses all the emotions and feelings we have.

  1. I agree with you. We can listen to music everywhere and it´s a really easy way to share and express our feelings. Even when we can´t make our own music or play some instruments we can understand and imagine how musicians and composers feel.
Apart from that, music has helped us to know how society was in the past and people´s believes because we can compare between music in the 18th century and 19th, for example.
So the connection of the youth culture and music is nothing new but now we could think about how music could influence to create a better future.
