My personal development

The development of a person does not begin with personal changes but with the discovery of himself.

I consider 2012 a difficult year for me because I experienced  some family problems,  thanks to which I can now say that I understand how I really am,  and this is an important personal development.

Last year I found myself alone to overcome difficulties,  and there was nobody to help me, therefore I was forced to go out from my own world and, with  my personality,  face  real life. The impact with reality revealed a part of me that I did not know, in fact before that moment  I used to  run away  from small problems,  but in this case I decided to fight and for the first time I was really strong. I think that hard experiences make  a person grow up in different ways.

In a different way also school, sport and relationships  were  particularly important for my development last year, because I faced them in another way, giving them the right importance. Previously sport was my life and I lived for it, now I understand that it is very useful because it makes me more competitive and less shy but it can’t be my future,  so I dedicate more time to school.

This difference is probably  made by the fact that I am attending the fifth year of high school and that brings me nearer to who I’ll become as an adult.
This change and my family problems have given me new views and horizons that become apparent  in relationships with others. Today I defend my ideas and I don’t give in to   others like before. In fact I realize that sometimes their aim is to tread on other people and I can’t permit this to happen to me! But the most important effect is that I have overcome my shyness.  I have verified this also thanks to the Comenius project that made me compare myself  with others and led me to speak with a lot of people with the aim to understand other cultures and respect their different ideas.

My task for the future is to completely discover myself because this is the road of  personal development and only then can I understand who I am and what my place is.

Italians united by a common passion: football

The most important sport in Italy is football and all Italians are involved during a football match.

During a football match Italy is divided and the Italians are one against the other, because they support different teams.

There is a period instead in which Italians become a part of one thing: during the world football match, and I think that we feel this event like nobody else in the world.

9 July 2006 was when I was proud of be Italian as never before.

We organised meetings in the houses with a lot of people, big parties, we ate together to watch the matches that will lead to the most moving moment ever: Italians as champions of the world.

We all shouted victory, there were tears of joy, hugs and celebration drinks and I saw the biggest party that I had ever seen.

All Italians, both young and old went out from their houses and began to celebrate the victory on the streets, where you could see people who were dancing, singing and jumping and you could hear shouts of joy and sounds of mad honking.

Italians seemed all brothers and a very beautiful and big family.

TECHNOLOGY: WHAT IS THE PRICE THAT WE MUST PAY?

Today many technologies have  come into our lives, bringing so many advantages that  thinking about a life without them is inconceivable. One of the most important technologies is the computer with its internet connection.
The Internet is the largest global communication system: people can have virtual meetings at any time; they can swap files  and show videos to the rest of the world through websites like Youtube. Consequently, people can be in contact without distance limits. For this purpose millions of people have recently joined  social networks . They are websites that allow you to make “friends” with other users, sharing photos, videos, opinions. There is nothing wrong in this, indeed it is a way to communicate with old and new friends on every occasion.
Unfortunately there are also negative aspects. The most common risks on the Internet  are data theft or contacts with dangerous people. In addition there are guys  known as “hackers”,  computer experts who use their ability to rob banks or create viruses that infect people’s computers and intrude  into their privacy. To limit these damages, people, must be very careful when  they surf, paying  attention to the web sites they choose and the links,  and of course they  must not provide or publish private information.

Although these are big problems, today the most dangerous consequence  is  called Internet addiction, and we must not underestimate it. Social networks’ addiction is comparable to pathological gambling. It brings many negative consequences in the different spheres of our life:
- Relationships: less time to spend with friends and family
- Work and school: Excessive involvement in networking, distraction from daily tasks
- Health problems: Internet addiction causes many physical problems that may arise after being in front of the computer for a long period of time (sleeping problems, irregular meals, headaches)
-Psychological problems: Facebook and other Social Networks “work” hiding the personal anxieties, worries, mood and sense of unworthiness and loneliness. In this way the demands of new friendships are a refill, confirmation and a strengthening of the  ego, which leads to use these sites more and more.
In conclusion the only solution seems to be … use technology with moderation!

Do you agree?
