This year during the meeting in Turkey we presented the occurrences that change our life. We talked about 4 events: important to our country and the two to our school. We briefly introduced them to you, but this article will let you know more about these events.

EU ParliamentFirst of all one of the most important is the presidency of the council of the EU.  Lithuania will be the first of the three Baltic States to hold the presidency since joining the European Union. The Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania agreed on a list of possible priority areas. Furthermore, according to the Ministry of Foreign affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, there are approximately 200 Presidency events confirmed in the capital Vilnius.

E. Petrauskas

The next event is the third place in the London Olympic Games. Evaldas Petrauskas, a young sportsman from our town took the third place in the London Olympic Games in boxing. His victory was a very important achievement for him and his hometown. Alongside the other winners, Lithuanian Olympic sportsmen changed the minds of a lot of young people. Now less people tend to think that our country is a truly “basketball country” and, currently, more and more people are getting interested in other sports, such as boxing or swimming.

Finally, the other two events which are important to our school are our school’s folk dance group’s “Atlaja” victory and the highest state exam results in our district. These people achieve high goals and make us, the pupil of Silute pirmoji gymnasium,
feel proud. They let us set out hard objectives and motivate us to achieve them, because they show us that with a lot of
work we can achieve everything.

These events changed our thinking, they changed our lives. What happenings may occur in the future?

(1) The world is changing: Cyber relationships

Centuries are passing and everyday we see how the world is changing. It’s changing in good and bad ways. Of course, we are changing this world, but we shouldn’t forget, that we also change ourselves.

One of the biggest changes that we have made in ourselves is our way we communicate and socialize. About fopurty years ago the Internet was created, but it was only used in the USA, and our when our grandparents were of about the same age we are mow, they didn’t have the Internet. They had phones, but the main possibility to get in touch with their friends was still going out to meet them. They spent their free time without any technologies, but their lives weren’t as bad as some of us would think. These days we have the Internet, we have social sites like facebook, twitter, google+, etc. A lot of people not only use them everyday, but they also forget to communicate with each other face to face. This isn’t as bad as it sounds, by according to online dating statistics, dating is the third most popular service provided by the Internet, 280 thousand marriages a year happen, because the lovers met each other via internet, 94% of people meet their “e-partner” again after first meeting and the relationships last for an average of at least seven months. Those who exchanged gifts before they met in a real life had a stronger relationship, the more the couple chatted through the Internet, the more they trusted each other. These facts are quite impressive, but cyber relationships aren’t just that. The flip side to it is that by giving your personal information you may be get into trouble. A lot of criminals take advantage of naïve teenagers and younger women who are looking for a deeper relationship. It is possible for them to do this because on the Internet no one knows who you are in a real life. This way people lose their money, friends, trust in people and sometimes they their lives when they want to meet with the “Faker”.

To some of us, this is how we may feel, when being cyber bullied.

Another change in our life is bullying. While having the Internet, mobile phones, bullying reached another level: it also became cyber bullying. This way bullies got an easier way to harm their victims. There are six types of bullying reported: from “flaming” to exclusion from an online group. Before it became cyber, it was common mostly in schools, but now it is common everywhere. Bullying makes children to become aggressive, anti-social, and it being cyber makes these problems become even more frequent. In addition stopping bullies was easier, but now, it’s harder to track them through the Internet. That’s why bullying became worse.

In conclusion, we understand that the world is changing, but we shouldn’t forget that we change too. That’s why we should be more careful and think before we do anything, because that may alter our life to the worst.

A sound mind in a sound body

May 7th, 2012 by jakas3martynas3s

Before we start, consider yourselves warned: this article is not about every single human on this planet, thank you.

A sound mind

Most people cherish their mind. Our mind is special for its use. Having a sound mind means: solving our problems with less obstacles, finding the light side in worst situatons… Since having a sound mind means that we can think more clearly. If we would think that our mind is worthless, we wouldn’t cherish it and we would only trust our feelings. We could believe anything that people say, we would lock ourselves in our little worlds, because if someone would lie to us, maybe everyone else could, so we couldn’t trust others. If our feelings would control us, we would see only black and white in our world.

A sound body

These days there are people ignoring the healthy life and those, who live healthy. Unhealthy life is very common these days, because lots of junk food is sold and eaten every day, new ones created every month. New technologies help to sat unhealthy, too I’m not against mobile phones, TVs, computers, but that’s true. We don’t always go out to meet friends, because we have computers, we don’t need to stay outside for a long time to chat – we have mobile phones. These things make us lazier, that’s why we move less and eat unhealthy.

So let’s open a new page in our lives and start thinking more clearly and living more healthy. Just don’t give up!
